This is not really a guide or a story but a short list of information that personally helped me cope with my intrusive thoughts, which I wish I was told about earlier.
- Your brain amplifies worries and uncertainty.
- Your thoughts are separate from who you are.
- There's no need to blame yourself for your thoughts.
- Your actions matter more than your thoughts.
- Sometimes doing nothing is better than desperately trying to find what to do.
- Accept your thoughts as background noise that doesn't need to be interacted with.
- Mocking, rebutting, agreeing with, or trying to stop your thoughts will only make them worse.
- Don't make a big deal out of it - it's okay if you slip up.
- Change the atmosphere in a healthy way (touch grass).
