Obi-Wan Kenobi

Lesson learned: label your breakers.

Overall, a pretty solid prequel. A few moments make no sense, and the acting is not quite top-notch, but it's still pretty good. The authors did a decent job at keeping the atmosphere of the original series while making the story watchable.

Breaking Bad

I have no idea how I managed to watch 5 seasons of anything, but here we are. It somehow happened. I can't say much about the show except that it's pretty cool. The acting and the cinematography were top notch. I really vibe with how minimalist the background music is as well. The story was interesting, but it felt a bit boring in a few places. For example, seasons 3 and 4 felt like fucking forever. I enjoyed the first and the last seasons the most.

Smiling Friends, Season 1

The humor in the show is certainly on point, and so is the art style. Not sure if I can say the same about everything else. The story and the soundtrack have been a bit generic so far, but I guess it's intentional? Either way, they don't hinder the experience in any way. One thing that I can't say if it's good or bad is the length of the episodes. 10-12 minutes is certainly quite short, and I don't know if it'd be more enjoyable with longer episodes. Regardless, it seems to work fine so far.

Harley Quinn, Season 1

Captivating, well-made, and overall awesome. Even for me who hasn't really seen anything by DC before, it was totally worth binge watching all 13 episodes at once until 6 AM.

Reacher

Nice police propaganda series. Not perfect, but action scenes hit hard as fuck. Making the main character so powerful without it being cheesy is difficult, but damn, they pulled it off. Also additional points for only being 8 one hour episodes long.

Reacher, Season 2

Date: 2024-02-14

Well, this sure does feel like a sequel. The chaotic energy and unapologetic badassness are still there, but something is off. I feel like the threat of imminent danger is missing, probably because the events don't happen all in the same small town as the main character and there's absolutely no mystery as to who the bad guys are. It feels like they're doing nothing but hiding and sending bullet meat onto the main character's crew.

Also holy fuck, I hate the way they handled color. The first season had warm lighting and minimal additional grading. This season straight up looks like a thriller from the mid-2010s. Not a fan.

It's still entertaining though.
